Help Needed For RHS Girls Lacrosse

We need your help to make a girls lacrosse program at Rockville High School become a reality.

We are asking for your support in several areas.

1. We need your help in a letter writing campaign to the Board of Education. Letters from parents and players detailing why you feel there should be a lacrosse program for girls at  Rockville High School and what the sport means to your daughter will be a big help as we look to begin the next chapter of girls lacrosse in Vernon. Many years ago the boys program did the same thing when they began and it was successful. We will collect the letters and hand them to the Athletic Director. They will be presented at a Board of Education meeting and it would be helpful if parents and players were able to attend that meeting. More information to follow once letters have been collected. Email letters to   or contact any of the coaches.

The Athletic Director has a plan in place to begin a program this Spring but we want to show the Board of Ed. that there is support for the program and that we want to see girls lacrosse become a fully funded varsity sport.

2. Vernon Lacrosse is also looking for donations of used equipment so that potential new players at the high school could try the sport without making a purchase. Please let us know if there is any equipment that you would like to donate.

3. We will also have special fundraisers to raise money for the new high school program which will most likely run as a club sport for at least the first two years. A club sport means that there is no varsity team and that it is not funded 100% by Board of Ed. We will need volunteers to organize and work these fundraisers. We will try to coordinate with current high school students that wish to play lacrosse at RHS.

We would like to thank everyone in advance for their support as we try to expand girls lacrosse in Vernon. Girls lacrosse is now the fastest growing female sport in the country and this is our chance to make a high school program a reality in our town.

Thanks,

Vernon Lacrosse Association
